Prayer Dare

What is the Prayer Dare?

Prayer Dare is a six-week, congregation-wide focus on growing our prayer lives—children, youth and adult. On one hand, Prayer Dare is a series of focused activities and resources. But it’s more than that. It’s the beginning of what we hope and PRAY becomes a growing movement in our church. (Prayer Dare is also the title of a book we’ll be using.)

We’re asking every friend and member of Northminster to purchase through the church the 40-day, daily devotional The Prayer Dare by Ron Kincaid. This devotional coaches the reader on how to develop a growing prayer life (available for a suggested donation of $10).

Our great, loving God invites and instructs us to converse with him all the time. This conversation, called prayer, is a powerful life-changer, accessible to all of us! Through prayer we will allow God to determine, direct, decide and make secure our steps. What great plans does God have for You, Northminster and our community as we all grow our pray life this fall? The possibilities are endless!

For thousands of years, Christians have engaged in a practice of prayer that recognizes the presence of God, that uses Scripture to sink deep into the truth of Christ’s love and sacrifice and that focuses more on the immediate presence of God than on the words we craft as we speak to Him. For our contemplative prayer night we will worship, learn a bit about contemplative prayer and then spend time engaging in contemplative prayer practices that will help us rest and wait in the presence of God.
